General Description

7-[(3-aminobenzoyl)amino]-4-hydroxynaphthalene-2-sulphonic acid is a chemical compound with the molecular formula C16H13N2O5S. It is a sulfonated naphthylamine dye with a bright red color, commonly used as a pH indicator. 7-[(3-aminobenzoyl)amino]-4-hydroxynaphthalene-2-sulphonic acid contains a naphthalene core with a hydroxyl group and a sulfonic acid group, as well as an amino-benzoyl amino group. It is often used in biological and biochemical research as a pH indicator due to its color change from red to yellow at pH 6.8-8.0, and its bright red color at pH 4.2 or lower. Additionally, it has been used in the development of assays for glucose and lactate, and as a reagent for the detection of albumin in urine samples.
